2009 Meeting

Held 17-18 November 2009 at the Melbourne Museum, Melbourne VIC.

Two days devoted exclusively to management innovations, strategies, and trends in Laboratory Medicine.

The Commoditisation of Pathology
The recent government changes to pathology practice are examined from a number of different perspectives by Australian and International experts.

What’s New in Laboratory Management
The uptake of lean management is growing; hear how some of the projects discussed at TBOP 07 have progressed. Along with the Lean, labs are taking up the Green cause; Australian and US speakers will discuss why and how they are leading the way.

Healthcare Reform
Reform of healthcare is a hot topic in US, UK and most recently Australia with release of the NHHRC report. Speakers from all those countries discuss the impact of technology with the possible outcomes and implications for pathology practice.

The Consumer and Pathology
The voice of the consumer in healthcare is growing around the world, why is this so? What are the implications for pathology, particularly for the newer genetic tests? Experts from Australia, US and UK examine this phenomenon and how they are coping with direct to consumer marketing.

Restructuring the Profession
Changes and reform of healthcare inevitably mean changes for pathology and its professional organisations and societies. Is registration dead for non-medical pathology practitioners in Australia? Are there too many societies? Hear perspectives from non-pathology healthcare groups and from an international panel about what is happening globally.
